2010 ISO 26 000, a standard non-standard!

Today held the 2nd States General of the Corporate Responsibility . The ISO 26000 in preparation since 2004, aims to provide organizations (businesses, communities, NGOs, trade unions ... regardless of their size and their areas of action) guidelines for social responsibility. It also provided an international framework of behavior enabling them to measure their impact on society and the establishment of control procedures and improvements.

ISO 26000 meets the major international founding texts as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the conventions of the International Labor Organization ... It will be based on seven principles:
1. Accountability
2. Transparency
3. Ethical behavior
4. Respecting the interests of stakeholders
5. Principle of legality
6. Respect for international norms of behavior
7. Respect for human rights

Recall that the ISO includes organizations from 157 countries, including the AFNOR for France. For five years, experts have been working on the content of this standard to give " guidelines social responsibility" and intended to " organizations both public and private, both in industrialized countries than in developing countries, to operate in a socially responsible . After the adoption of the draft earlier this year and a final adjustment in Denmark in May, the IS0 26000 was finally passed in the summer and published on 1 November.

But ISO 26000 is a voluntary standard that provides guidelines. It is not intended for certification such as ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management): it is not " intended nor suitable for certification purposes or for use regulatory or contractual . Thus any organization, whether private, voluntary or governmental, is invited to use and apply this standard that promotes accountability, but does nothing. Does that mean that any organization can apply this standard without anyone having checked the specifications? A great tool almost free (140 € on the site of the ISO?) And no risk to proclaim himself "socially responsible"?

Active requires very active, I can not be present at the second general statements of corporate responsibility, however, tomorrow evening, Wednesday, December 8 debate is lively INSEEC (School where j ' I followed my studies it was not that long of it) on social responsibility of the entrepreneur in SMEs. Pray hard that the snow prevented any aircraft from landing Paris ... my day with my foreign client will be canceled and I can face the blizzard to get to 19h on the premises of the INSEEC. This is called a snowball effect.

A format to prevent you from printing

To effectively reduce our consumption of paper, the WWF launched into editing software. Eh .. ggg (for Toulouse), WWF, publisher of software? The idea is actually quite simple and not so twisted it. We are not able to limit our own paper prints? Our reflex is unconquerable? Bad habits are far too entrenched in deep within us despite our desire to save the planet and the little birds? The solution of the NGOs is unstoppable: go to the source and prevent the possibility of printing a document using a file format unprintable.

In my (however short) career I met many people who automatically print all their emails and any attachments to these messages. This is a tool that may paralyze your somewhat suppliers, customers, colleagues, etc. ... who have such bad reflexes. Life will become very complicated in certain extreme situations, but real: I think those who never consult their inbox since everything that passes through their computer is automatically printed by the assistant ... who is in charge of stacking the bundles of papers on the desk. I'm sure I'm not the only one who witnessed it!

slogan "Save a WWF save a tree", the software works just like a PDF and opens with most PDF readers such that Acrobat Reader or Foxit Reader.

To do this, simply download a software free and then use the function "Save in WWF /" save as wwf " in the print menu. According to WWF, the software is able to open any document (Microsoft Office, e-mails, web pages ...) and perform the conversion for a file extension. Wwf.
You end up with a document extension called ". Wwf. The NGO is definitely very good at branding!

I have not been able to test because the software is currently in Mac version. This error will be caught soon I hope. For the Mac, here's the press release (in German). Wwf for the first test!

However this operation is not it just symbolic? Car. Wwf is not a new tool: programs via PDF already allowed the option to lock the printing of documents for reasons of confidentiality or rights of authors (I have long hated a teacher from my school for use this format there!).
Moreover if we really want to print documents it does not copy and paste on a Word doc? A check because it was impossible to copy and paste the documents from my teacher ... But even assuming that it is feasible that manipulation will certainly reduce a lot of impressions.
So for those who have been tested. Wwf, I'd like to have your feedback about it!

I'm not totally convinced today by the usefulness of this extension, however, was not able to test it is definitely for you!

Technology and drift you say? Let's be optimistic!

This post is my contribution to the 4th edition Blogosphèrna organized by the blog Karhba Kamyoune and the theme " Tunisian society between values and technological drift .

It is true that Tunisians are constantly on the lookout for any new technology, more and more households have Internet Radios to be talking about Android , d ' iPhone and Apple as if all the Tunisian had these "gadgets" non-price, people talk about Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg to cafeterias, as if they were their friends ...
The democratization of all these technologies I remember when we ' was right for TV's Tunis 7 , Channel 2 (France 2) and Raiuno , (besides all the Italian master fifties) and then came the famous "Parable " with dozens of bouquets, we really knew more than watch, we spent the evening channel surfing to find some more, after long years to enter the Egyptian soap opera every evening with the family after dinner (I know you're back memories-_-) here it has every color: Mexican, Turkish, ...
For Internet is like before (in the 90's) someone who considered himself a simple email address geek technology, now with all these social networks, people do not really know what to do ...

short I personally think that any technology can be used well or badly, it depends on many things (and there is enough to power a year Blogosphèrna there), although the arrival of social networks in Tunisia and Facebook mainly brought a lot of changes in habits and daily lives of those who have access (yes, because we must not forget that it's about a minority and that most are struggling to make ends meet ... and here too there for another year of Blogosphèrna) A positive change for some and negative for others, it depends on individuals and their uses, it is not something you can generalize or quantify I think ...

I still remain optimistic and I do not attribute this "drift" which grows from day to day social networks, on the contrary, I think even that is a good thing and everyone will eventually find his account ...

I take the example of two events organized via Facebook recently:

Before there was talk of empty granaries , we wanted to appeal to organize with us, but nobody knew no how! Here's an example of an intelligent person ( Sarra Sara ) has seized on these networks in a direction favoring the exchange, sharing and closeness between people ...

That goes for all those meetings between old friends like the one recently held by former my high school that I welcome the same opportunity

Hey, Bilel Besbes example, our young Tunisian , could he give birth to Blogosphèrna without social media? No I do not think because I discovered via his Facebook page :)

Finally I would say we can not measure the impact of democratization technologies in Tunisia before very long years, it has to reach a balance to be able to judge, in the meantime I invite you to positively and to follow the example of intelligent people who have taken advantage of and exploit all media their potential;)
